Report from Chair

Submitted June 20, 2007 by Irene Klossner Club President

Our year started out at a accelerated pace, a new executive all learning as we went along in positions that were new and challenging.  It gives as all an even better appreciation of all the work our past executives have done on our behalf!!  So a heartfelt encore Thanks to all our past executive sitting in the room.

As a club we saw some wonderful growth in Westsyde,  a step towards a continued Aqua Squirts program, and some extremely hard work from our coaches, and exceptional performances by the athletes all around.

These accomplishments are all possible through the hard work and dedication from your executive.  For without the parent volunteers there is no club.  A bittersweet quote reads  “ volunteers are not paid…because they are priceless”.  I would like us to acknowledge your 2006/07 executive.

Non Profits such as us depend on volunteers at all levels, for Board positions, special Fundraising events and at all the meets we attend.  Thanks goes out to all those who have helped out with jobs big and small that have helped the club run smoothly.

One of our goals over the years has been to resurrect the website.  We are pleased to announce that it has been updated and maintained by Linda Komori.  Linda has done a fantastic job securing a free website for us and using her creative talents to make this a wonderful tool and resource.  We encourage you all to refer to it regularly to keep yourselves and your athletes , updated in the happenings of the club.  We also hope that you feel welcome to contribute anything you may wish to share.

We had a very jam packed retreat out of which, many great suggestions and plans were drafted.  These are ongoing projects and ideas that are summarized for all to see.  Limited copies are available tonight, and will be added to the website .  Anyone seeing a niche or opportunity to help or enhance an ongoing project would be encouraged to speak to any one of your new executive or e-mail your suggestions to myself.

We hope you have all had a great year and we certainly have done our best to make the season smooth.  We do thank you for your patience when we have fallen short of any expectations, and hope that you feel free to share your talents so we can be even better next year.

We are a club in transition, saying farewell to our Head Coach, as well as our top Tier athletes.  We are actively recruiting for a new Head Coach and see ourselves as a Development Team that has a lot of potential and even bigger heart.

The competitive season is over and some work will continue through the summer months, but mostly it’s a time for everyone to have some fun and new adventures.  Thanks, Everyone.
