Fundraising News

2007/8 Fundraising Events:

Until such time as the Fundraising Chair position is filled, the Executive will assign fundraising events to each Tier group. Each group will be responsible for ensuring that their fundraising project is completed. Team Reps will keep parents informed of which fundraising project each team will be involved with. Click on links below for details.

January is official Pizza Month!

CGP Tier One has chosen Panago’s “What goes around comes around” program as its January/February fundraiser. Each swimmer will receive five Panago coupons via their team rep. The cost of each coupon is $10, and can be redeemed for any medium pizza at Panago (value up to $14.25). For each coupon sold, $4 will be credited to the swimmer’s fundraising account - so this might be an easy way to chip away at the old quota. To achieve fundraising credit, swimmers will be required to either sell or purchase the coupons. If pizza is just not your thing, coupons may be returned to team reps without penalty. Details on deadline for selling or obtaining extra coupons will come home with the coupons.

Bingo:

In order for us to keep our syncho fees down, we rely not only on our own fundraising efforts but also on funding from the BC Gaming Commission. The Club is required to meet a certain level of fundraising on its own and to put in an appearance at certain Bingo-related events in order to receive this all-important funding. We must attend meetings, and do some in-hall hours at the Chances Bingo hall at 1250 Halston Ave. Each Tier has a Bingo volunteer commitment:

TIER 1

• In-Hall session Tues, Oct. 23, 5 - 8 pm.
• General meeting at the Brocklehurst hall Sat., Mar. 1, 10 am.

TIER 2/3

• In-Hall hours Thurs, Nov. 8, 3 pm - 5 pm.
• General meeting at Brocklehurst hall Sat. June 7, 10 am.

WESTSYDE TEAM
• General meeting at Brocklehurst hall Dec.1, 10 am.

TIER 3/4

In hall hours were completed by the team on Sept. 18, and the general meeting duty was completed on Sept. 29th.

Instructions:

The in-hall hours at Chances are EASY to do - sit at the table at the front doors for the time we are allotted. No smoking environment. Children under the age of 18 not allowed. You can read a book or bring another activity to keep busy during that time if you wish.

You must have our Synchro display board set up at the table with you. The board is stored at the Synchro office at the pool. You can pick it up when your child is swimming so you have it with you on your duty day. When you are sitting at the table at the bingo hall, there is a drawer in the table that has a sign in sheet. You must sign it so they know we have done our hours.

If you are attending the general meetings, they are at the Brocklehurst Community hall right across the street from the Brocklehurst mall. They start at 10:00 and last all of 10 minutes,. Again, all you do is sign in and sit and listen. That's it.

Parent reps are responsible for finding someone from your tier to fulfill these duties. THEY ARE A MUST DO.

Fundraising Chair position:

Our long-time Fundraising Chair has stepped down, and we need someone to fill her shoes. Swimmers (and their hardworking parents) are responsible for the actual fundraising. The Chair facilitates the swimmers' efforts through making sure order forms get out to swimmers, and that funds are collected from swimmers. The Chair also ensures that completed orders are distributed to swimmers. Systems are in place, and the new person will receive help with easing into the role. The job does not require loads of time, just someone who is comfortable keeping track of cash and who can keep an eye on the calendar to make sure deadlines are met.

Please step forward if you've been considering getting more involved with the club. You'll receive our help and our undying appreciation!

Volunteer with us

Kamloops Sunrays Synchronized Swim Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an unforgettable experience for swimmers of all ages. To keep this experience affordable, we rely on our many wonderful volunteers. If you're the parent of a swimmer, please get involved and do your part to make our club the best it can be. Many of the volunteer jobs at the club require little time or expertise, but will make a big difference. Many hands make light work!
